Nina Stiller

[Rozmiar: 29938 bajtów] There is only a handful of vocal artists in Poland with their own original style and unique personality. Nina Stiller is surely one of them. A graduate of the Pantomime Studio at Warsaw’s Jewish Theatre and of Song Interpretation at the Fryderyk Chopin Music School in Warsaw, she is a songstress, actress and dancer who feels equally at home in the theatre, on the concert platform and on the film set. An extraordinary power of expression and an ability to communicate genuine drama in her interpretations have made her an easily recognizable personality on the Polish music scene, an artist who establishes an almost magical rapport with her audience.

Nina Stiller’s outstanding talent, coupled with her original looks and a carefully concocted stage presence have won her numerous awards at festivals and competitions. Her first major success was the Grand Prix at the 9th National Competition of Actor’s Song in Wrocław in 1988. In 1992 she received the First Prize at the National French Song Competition ‘Paryż-Warszawa-Varsovie-Paris’ in Warsaw (for the most original interpretation of a song by Edith Piaf). She also won the National Jewish Song Competition in 1999 and received the Special Award for the most evocative interpretation at the ‘New Tradition’ Folk Music Festival of Polish Radio in 2003.

Nina Stiller’s thematically diverse repertoire of both her recitals and para-theatrical performances is devised by the artist herself, with loving assistance from her husband, Robert Stiller, one of the most prominent Polish translators and writers.

In addition to the rich treasure trove of Jewish culture, which in recent years have played a dominant role in her artistic activity, Nina Stiller makes ample use of the work of Polish, French and German writers. She sings in Yiddish, Polish, Hebrew, Aramaic as well as the dialect of Yemenite Jews.
