The Warsaw-based "Mosaic" is a rather atypical representation of the Polish folk scene, functioning as it does on the borderline of early and traditional music and keenly exploring archaic motifs in the Polish musical tradition. Their long-awaited official debut CD, which had its premiere on 10 October 2010, is an exploration of the earliest traditional Polish songs, enriched with Oriental influences and modern eclectic music. Members of the group define the style of the recording using an enigmatic word "ludowawa", which is their own derivative of "ludowa" (Polish for "folk").
- Our music cannot be termed "ludowa" (folk). If anything, it can only be termed "ludowawa" or "folkish". Like the city where we live, which is stuck together by various elements which do not form any whole by themselves but can only be put together by our joint rthythms and joint emotions.
The group uses a wide range of traditional instruments from various regions of Poland and the world, such as the medieval "fidel" (stringed instrument), dulcimer from the Rzeszów region in south-eastern Poland, bagpipes, gaita gallega, tampura, Arab lute, duduk and a variety of the bass.
