r.D&K (roberto DELIRA & Kompany) is a new project by Robert Jaworski, the
founder of the groups Żywiołak and ich troLe and former member of Kapela ze
Wsi Warszawa (Warsaw Village Band). All of his artistic achievements have
focused on heavyfolk and folkrock in all their guises.
What prompted him to start a new chapter in his career was the work on
the reconstruction of a medieval ‘gęśle’, discovered during archeological
excavations in Gdańsk. In the reconstruction process, this primitive
stringed instrument was made suitable for playing with a bow. Jaworski
dubbed it therefore ‘gęśla smyczkowa’. In his group, it was joined by
other old instruments such as hurdy-gurdies, various types of violins and
hybrid instruments built on the basis of old instruments (long-neck lute,
symphonic ‘baraban’ / big drum).
The music of r.D&K is based on a wide spectrum of styles. Its hallmarks are
Jaworski’s own ‘dark’ arrangements of the folk music of the Baltic region,
blended with poetry and fragments of historical accounts, as well as the leader’s
own texts and music drawing on the folk style.
Other labels: Burdonrock, Dronpunk, Psychofolk. ‘The music of cultural
heritage discovered in the thicket of old-school aesthetic’.
